July-October 2025 Park Resident - Ranger Station, indoor summer opportunity, multiple sites

Our team is seeking experienced visitor services volunteers with a background in Ranger Station operations. The ideal candidate(s) has experience or familiar with Florida Park Service standards for cash handling, customer service and park operations.Ranger station tasks include collecting entrance fees, answering visitor questions in person and over the phone, renting park pavilions to visitors, and operating a two-way radio to contact field staff. This is an indoor opportunity. Strong communication skills are desired.

We currently have the following 2025 resident volunteer site openings: July 1-September 30 / August 1-November 30 / NOW-October 31 (smaller site, compact RV preferred).


Park Resident Volunteer Opportunity - Alfred B. Maclay Gardens


This is one of Florida's most beautiful state parks while volunteering at Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park, located in the heart of Tallahassee, FL. The gardens are a masterpiece of floral architecture, featuring a picturesque brick walkway, secret garden, reflection pool, walled garden and hundreds of camellias and azaleas. The Maclay House is open for tours from January 1st to April 30th each year, drawing visitors from all over the globe to step back in time and learn about the individuals responsible for the creation of the gardens.The park is also home to the Lake Hall recreation area where visitors enjoy fishing, boating, and picnicking, and the multi-use Lake Overstreet trails, perfect for bird watching or biking! Enjoy the park after your service day is done!

Please indicate on your application any special skills or trainings you have that would be relevant to this opportunity. We require park resident volunteers to work 24 hours per week per site (may split hours between site occupants) and may stay at Maclay Gardens for up to 16 weeks. Each resident volunteer site has access to water, electric (50/30 amp), septic hook-ups and laundry.

Upon completion of your first 50 hours, you will receive a free entrance pass to the park you currently serve and 6 visits for you and your family to any other state park. Upon completion of 250 hours, you will receive a special volunteer annual pass for you and your family to any Florida State Park. Join us in all park staff gatherings (i.e., potlucks, celebrations, holiday parties, etc.) and the annual district Volunteer Appreciation gathering.
