We are currently accepting volunteer applications for resident campground hosts at Santos Campground. Santos Campground & Trailhead is full-service, with restrooms, water, picnic pavilions & access to mountain-biking, equestrian and hiking trails & wildlife galore. The campground address is 3080 SE 80th St, Ocala, FL 34480. Convenient to Ocala, The Villages and the Gulf Coast.

One of the nation's largest incomplete public works projects has been transformed into the diverse Cross Florida Greenway, spanning Central Florida from the Gulf of Mexico to the St. Johns River. Santos is known as a biking mecca and boasts miles of world class single-track biking, hiking and equestrian trails, including a 16-mile paved trail which meanders through the lush forests of the Greenway.

We have multiple openings for a park resident camp host or a couple able to work a 24-hour per week work schedule. Primary responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing the bath house and restrooms as needed several times per day, cleaning the campsites and fire rings after check-out and emptying trash containers and other odd jobs including recording your volunteer hours and maintain other records as required.

**Note that this is a park resident position at one of our four campgrounds, and includes a full-service camp site with a 24 hour per-week per campsite commitment. Our campgrounds include Rodman Campground, Santos Campground, Shangri-La Campground and Ross Prairie Campground.

Title: Resident Campground Host

Supervisor: Volunteer Manager or On-Duty Ranger

Location: Santos Campground and Trailhead

Time Commitment: 24 Hrs./week/ site

Duties/Responsibilities (Including 5% other duties as assigned): Repairing and operating park equipment. Cleaning park buildings and facilities; Maintaining cleanliness of park grounds including picking up litter, emptying trash cans, and removing debris from road shoulders and all use areas. Making repairs to facilities and/or reporting all maintenance issues; Monitoring all areas for staff and public safety; Answering questions from park visitors; Explaining park rules and policies in a friendly and professional manner to campers and visitors in violation; Other duties as assigned.

Benefits to Volunteer: Volunteer provided with a T-shirt and a name tag; Upon completion of 50 hours, volunteer will receive a family pass for free entry to 6 state parks; Upon completion of 250 hours, volunteer will receive a special volunteer annual pass for your family to any Florida State Parks (request all passes from the Volunteer Manager); Join us in all park staff gatherings (potlucks, celebrations, holiday parties, etc.).

Position Goal/Outcome Desired: To become familiar with the daily operations and maintenance of the park; Gain a better understanding and appreciation of what the park and the Florida Park Service; Gain a sense of fulfillment from the volunteer experience; Gain a sense of appreciation for the hours contributed supporting the Florida Park Service's Mission Statement "To provide resource-based recreation while preserving, interpreting, and restoring natural and cultural resources."

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: Be highly organized and able to multi-task; Possess a professional and friendly personality; Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; Ability to learn park policies and procedures; Must be a dependable and punctual person; Ability to present a neat and professional appearance; Ability to stand for long periods at a time; Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions; Ability to learn the Florida Park Service's Operations Manual (OM)

Special Requirements: Park Resident volunteers are required to work a minimum of 24 hours per week per campsite. Park resident campground volunteers will have a sign on site identifying them as Camp Hosts. Camp Hosts are available to answer questions, provide information about the park, and to monitor the campground for violations of park rules. It is important for a volunteer in this role to become familiar with the policies of Florida State Parks.

Training/Prerequisites: Must have a current Volunteer Application on file; Must have a current Volunteer Agreement on file (renewed annually); Must provide a valid form of identification; Must pass a State and Federal sexual predator/offender check; Must complete or renew required annual training.

Job-specific training and orientation will be on-going and provided by the park.
